SRINAGAR: Police on Thursday late night arrested nine youth on charges of stone pelting during nocturnal raids in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police official said that nine youth have been arrested from Marval village of Pulwama on Thursday night on charges of protests and stone pelting.
Reports said that soon after police reached to the village clashes broke out between the youth and police. Forces also used tear gas smoke shells to disperse the protestors. The villagers alleged that forces have been frequently arresting people from the village.
During the night, protests were also held at Drubgam village of Pulwama after the men in uniform reached the village and allegedly started pulling down banners and posters related to slain militant commander Sameer Tiger.
Sameer Tiger was killed during an encounter between the government forces and militants in Drubgam village of Pulwama. (PTK)
