Mufti Sayeed’s Accession Remarks ‘Misleading’: Shah

Srinagar: Terming the Mufti Muhammad Sayeed's statement related to accession of state as "misleading", the Democratic Freedom Party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah Thursday said it shows how low one can stop for the sake of remaining in power.

Shah while suggesting Mufti to revisit the history said that any statement related to accession made by fraudulent means or by any individual cannot be taken as majority opinion. He also said that Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah was not a "true representative” of people but "served the interests of a particular family rather than of nation".

Shah who continues to be under house arrest in a statement to KNS, on Thursday said: "Does the so-called instrument of accession have any relevance after the hanging of Shaheed Maqbool Bhat and Shaheed Afzal Guru, imprisoning thousands in jails, committing tragedies like Kunan Poshpora and the resistance movement run by the people of Kashmir?"

Terming the Mufti Sayeed's remarks as drama and an attempt to rejuvenate the fake documents of accession, Shah said the 18 resolutions in UN make the instrument or accession invalid. He suggested Mufti to revisit history and re-check the words of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to know that the accession of which he is taking about is rubbished by the people of Kashmir through their invaluable sacrifices.

"Mufti says that the decision of accession was right. For him, even the massacre of humans in Kashmir due to the so called accession is right. This is due to the same claims of accession that India has kept 7 lakh forces here who are spilling the blood of innocent people here," he said. He questioned the relevance of the fake accession documents "even after the enforcement of economic blockade by the communal and fanatic forces".

"The hands of those with which Mufti talks of accession are smeared with the blood of Muslims. After killing Zahid Rasool, the nation expected an apology from the government and resignation from the chief minister but Mufti instead encouraged the culprits by talking of accession now. It's extremely unfortunate and shameful on his part and can be termed as adding salt to injuries of the victim's family," Shah said.

Shah also prayed for speedy recovery of the Bijbehara youth Naseer Ahmad who was injured due to forces' firing. He condemned the barbaric action of forces.

Meanwhile, the DFP spokesperson while severely condemning the imposition of restrictions on the Islamabad Chalo call given by Hurriyat Conference said people are made victims on both sides. "On one side, communal forces are given open deal to commit inhuman crimes and on other, forces continue to unleash a reign of terror among masses."

He strongly condemned the curbs by authorities and arrest of Syed Ali Geelani and other leaders.

He said several leaders were injured due to use of indiscriminate force by police at Batengoo, Islamabad including Er Farooq Ahmad Khan and Ghulam Rasool.

He also condemned the fresh arrests in Islamabad and Kulgam and said Er Farooq Ahmad Khan, Ghulam Rasool, Abdul Ahad and others are arrested during nocturnal raids and taken to some unknown destination. (KNS)
