Srinagar, July 13: (GNS) “13 July 1931 is a day when Kashmiri Martyrs sacrificed their lives for a sacred cause and no one can ever forget or turn a blind eye towards these sacrifices,” said JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik on Friday.
Malik who was arrested by police on July 6 and is lodged at police station Kothi Bagh in a statement issued to GNS said, “July 13 teaches us resistance and persistence and we as a nation owe reverence to them. The present struggle for freedom is actually a continuation of the struggle and sacrifices rendered by martyrs of 1931.”
JKLF chairman said that Kashmiris fully know that the mission for which martyrs of 1931 sacrificed their lives for is not yet accomplished and “today when we are recalling these sacrifices, we pledge to continue our struggle for complete freedom and self determination and face every hardship”.
The statement said that police since past many days have not allowed anyone to meet Malik, terming it highly condemnable.
Meanwhile, JKLF chairman has expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow over the demise of renowned social figure of Anantnag, Ghuam Muhammad Sofi. The deceased was the father of resistance leader Mukthar Ahmad Sofi.
Terming the demise as “a personal grief and a loss to resistance movement”, JKLF chairman said that the deceased was a steadfast Muslim and selfless human. “Today his departure has saddened us all,” he said.
JKLF vice chairman advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt visited Anantnag and participated in the funeral prayers and attended the condolence meeting.
While praying for the heavenly abode of the deceased, Bashir Ahmad Butt expressed condolence with the bereaved family. (GNS)
