Man Kills fiancee, surrenders

Kota: Unhappy over his engagement, a 26-year-old man allegedly killed his fiancee in Ramgangmandi town near here and later surrendered himself to the police.

Gaurav Saha, who lives in Ramgangmandi town got engaged to Jaalpa Shaha (23), a Baroda resident on October 18. But he didn't like the girl, said Harshraj Singh, Circle Inspector (CI) Ramgangmandi police station.

The accused had apparently asked the girl to call off the engagement, but the girl refused to do so, he said.

Saha took the girl, who was in town to celebrate the former's birthday, out for a ride and later killed her, police said.

The accused took the girl to an isolated place last night and stabbed her multiple times with a knife. He later poured petrol on her and set the girl afire, Singh said.

The guilt-ridden youth, on his way back informed a home guard about the incident and took them to the crime spot, he said.

The girl was dead till the police reached her, they said.

Her body has been sent for post-mortem, police said.

The accused has been booked under sections 302 and 201 of IPC, they said, adding the matter is being probed further.
