LeT Militant Killed, Two Escape In Pulwama Gunfight

The police said that one militant in Thamna village of South  Kashmir’s Pulwama district got killed in a day long gun fight on Friday. They, however said that the two more militants trapped have managed to escape from the spot.

Earlier, on Friday DGP SP Vaid had tweeted that government forces gunned down 3 militants in the encounter. However, after the encounter concluded only one dead body was recovered in the debris.

 The gunfight had started after a joint patrol of the armed forces launched searches on Friday afternoon in the Thamna village.

During the encounter clashes took place between the securityorces and civilians after later tried to obstruct the anti insurgency operation launched by government forces.

 The police spokesman said that five civilians also got injured in cross firing who were evacuated to hospital for treatment. One injured youth, Faizan Ahmad however succumbed to injuries.

Meanwhile, the slain militant was identified as Sajad Ahmad Shah son of Ali Mohammad Shah, a resident of Gund, Chogul in Handwara area of Kupwara district.

“He was affiliated with LeT militant outfit and was involved in number of attacks on the security establishments,” said the spokesman.
