Landslides Feared; 15 Families In Karnah Shifted To Govt Schools

Almost fifteen families were Friday shifted to Government middle and primary school in Karnah’s Amroohi village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district after the residents feared landslides due to rainy weather prevailing in the Valley from the last three days.
According to reporters, the administration has shifted fifteen families to the government run schools for their safety.
SDM Karnah, Shabir-ul-Hassan told media that the families were shifted to the safer places after they feared landslides due to incessant rains since last three days.
He told media that the hilly land at which these families were living began to slide and soon after it came to fore, the families were immediately shifted to the safer places.
According to sources, all the major roads including Tangdarh–Kupwara was closed while the major bridge in the area connecting the village with rest of the part was washed away as the water level in the Qazinag Nallah was increased due to the continuous downpour from past three days.
Meanwhile, rain and snow is continuously pouring in the frontier district. (Agencies)
