The official work in both the courts was affected as association is demanding immediate transfer of the accused DC.

However, the Teachers Forum Kupwara has also extended their support to the Bar, therefore, aggravating further situation.  The Bar is on strike since Tuesday after they accused the DC Rajeev Ranjan of manhandling their colleague advocate Nisar Ahmad who had asked him to renew the license of his uncle.

“Advocate Nisar was allegedly humiliated and manhandled when he visited the office of DC Tuesday and tried to interfere into the controversy between his Uncle and Deputy Commissioner after later refused to renew his gun license,” said the protesting advocates.

However, the DC has rubbished the allegations and said that he is being forced to follow an illegal path to renew the license of a physically handicapped person.

After no breakthrough today in a deadlock between the district administration and Bar Association, the latter decided to continue their strike on Saturday.

“In our meeting today, we decided to continue the strike for tomorrow. We will hold a meeting on Sunday to decide the future course of action,” said Ghulam Mohammad Shah association president, adding that they have full support of Jammu and Kashmir, High Court Bar Association.

“The DC has no right to abuse a person who visits his office for a genuine purpose. The officer’s behaviour is increasingly becoming intolerable and we demand his immediate transfer,” added Shah.

Meanwhile sources said that the DC has refused to enter into any dialogue with Bar association over the issue, although the concerned SP personally tried to interfere to settle down the issue.
