Kashmri Crisis: In Bad Times Mehbooba Stands Alone

1 min read

While the Chief Minister, Mehbobba Mufti is undergoing sharp criticism for ‘mishandling’ the ongoing unrest which resulted over fifty civilian killings, her ministers and senior party leaders are missing on the ground to defend the government.

As of there are only three members of Chief minster’s private media team recently appointed defending the government at this crucial juncture on social networking sites.  The key party members including finance minister, Haseeb Drabu, Education Minister, Naem Akther, Amitabh Matoo, CM’s political advisor and many others have not only failed to defend the government measures during the ongoing turmoil, however, they maintained complete silence against the ongoing media trial against their party and Chief Minister.

“Mehbooba was left alone at this crucial juncture by her party members. Nobody has even tweeted to highlight the measures taken by government to ensure health and medical facilities for people during the curfew at government hospitals. Forget about participating in debates on Television, they even did not issue any statement to media to defend the government,” said one of the party insiders.

While in normal days, they said some of the party leaders try to remain on forefront to defend the government and propagate its pro people initiatives but unfortunately they have gone into hiding as the resentment is brewing against the establishment.

Meanwhile, the absence of PDP leaders from the scene is widely criticized on social networking sites.

Shafiq Mir, congress spokesman termed them as opportunists. “Opportunists on Hiding Mode …Baring few recently employed PROs in CM secretariat, no PDP leader or worker appears anywhere in Jammu Kashmir to defend their government. I am sure that they will appreciate all steps of the government in future if it survives. And they will call their leader Mehbboba Mufti as the most visionary and iron lady too,” he writes on his facebook wall.
