Kashmiri Student Abducted By Gunmen In Punjab

Srinagar: A group of unknown gunmen on Friday kidnapped a Kashmiri student from Mithu Basti Jhalander in Punjab province.

“A group of eight gunmen in civvies knocked the main gate at around 6:00 am of a building where we are residing on rent basis,” a group of Kashmiri students told GNS over the phone.

The gunmen also asked for the identities of all the Kashmiri students putting in the rooms. When they heard of Adil Hussain Teli (son of Mohammad Hussain Teli, a resident of Noonmai, Yaripora, Kulgam) and they barged inside his room and took him along with them.

The gunmen, they said also ransacked their rooms and scattered their books. Adil is pursuing BCA from St Soldier Group of constitutions Jhalander. The exams of his 6th semester are scheduled to begin from May 2.

“Soon after the incident, we approached the concerned police station JP Nager, Jhalender at around 6:30 am and informed them about the kidnapping of Adil Hussain but they did not act on it swiftly and later a police team reached the spot at around 12:00 noon,” the students alleged.Kashmiri Student Abducted By Gunmen In Punjab

The students also alleged that the Principal of the college, when informed about the incident, showed indifferent attitude

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) concerned Jhalender when contacted by GNS said that a police team has been sent to the spot and investigations are underway.

Local Incharge Station House Officer (SHO) Resham Singh when contacted told GNS that police is carrying the investigation and is waiting to record the statement of the students who are putting with him as well as those living in neighbourhood.

“We will register a case after completing the preliminary investigations,” SHO said. (GNS)
