Srinagar: Kashmiris settled in Europe are planning a “freedom march” in London when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi lands in the UK on a three-day-tour, a media report said today.

A Facebook page created by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Council and Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK says the march will be organized outside Wembley Stadium in London on Nov 13.

Modi is scheduled to address 60,000-strong audience comprising Indian diaspora at the stadium on Friday.

“On Thursday November 12, Kashmir Freedom March would be organised at 10 Downing Street, London from 12 PM to 3 PM, while on Friday 13 November the march would be organised at Wimbley Stadium, where Modi is scheduled to address a rally, from 5 PM to 8 PM,” said Najib Afsar, Chief Cordinator of JKLC, according to a report.

He said the motive behind the march is to highlight the atrocities committed by Indian state in Jammu and Kashmir. “India has been holding J&K at the behest of brute force. It has unleashed a reign of terror on the citizens in Kashmir. We want the world community to take a note of it and press for the resolution of Kashmir issue as per the wishes of its natives.”

Faheem Kiyani, Head TeK UK, said that they are holding a series of meetings across Europe to finalise the arrangements for the ‘Kashmir Freedom March’.

“We have arranged free transport facilities across London, Berlin and Brussels and the participants would be taken to the venues in coaches,” he said, according to the report.

Kiyani said that MP Andrew Griffiths, President Kashmir Parliamentary Group UK and MP Imran Hussain and Raja Najabat Husssain will be participating in the March. Besides, he said, TeK UK has also submitted a petition to UK parliament against the Human Rights Violations in “Occupied Kashmir.”

“In Brussels, Kashmir Freedom Movement is supporting the march. The March will be held around European parliament in Luxembourg in Brussels Belgium from 5 PM -7 PM,” he said.

In Berlin Germany, he said, Free Kashmir Organisation is supporting the march.

Head, Free Kashmir Organisation, M Siddiq Kiani, said that the organisation has finalised al the arrangements for the march and they are expecting a huge crowd to participate.

Maryam Khan, an executive member of TeK, UK, said that she has been working for days together to encourage the participation of Non-Kashmiris in the March, since this is also a “humanitarian issue”.

“I held a series of meetings and rallies across Birmingham to aware people about the Humanitarian issue of Kashmir. I am glad that a huge number of women and Non-Kashmiris have agreed to march towards London on 13th of November to participate in the Kashmir Freedom March,” she said.

“Since the majority of Kashmiri women are suffering in Kashmir at the hands of Indian Amy and Police, therefore it’s the duty of every woman to participate and show solidarity with the women of Kashmir. People from all over the Europe especially Pakistanis and Indians are expected to participate in the ‘Kashmir Freedom March’.”
