Karra’s Resign Wont Affect PDP: Fayaz Mir

Srinagar: The ruling People Democratic Party (PDP) Wednesday said that it’s former leader Tariq Hameed Karra is withholding his resignation just to seek lame excuses and surprisingly his resignation is yet to reach speaker Lok Sabha.

Talking to KNS over phone from Delhi Rajya Sabha member and senior PDP leader, Fayaz Ahmad Mir said, “Karra is withholding resignation just to seek lame excuses. I have confirmed from the office of the speaker Lok Sabha about the delivery of the resignation letter of Tariq Hameed Kara but I was told that the speaker’s office hasn’t received any resignation from Tariq Hameed Kara till today”.

Claiming that citing technical reasons for delay in sending his resignation letter is tantamount to hoodwink people, Mir said, “He (Karra) could have sent his resignation letter much earlier as there is no technicality involved in forwarding resignation letter to parliament by any sitting parliament member.”

Mir said that those questioning the stability of PDP due to Karra’s quitting are blatantly mistaken. Saying that Karra has not won any election in individual capacity but he has got votes in all the elections he contested in the name of PDP, Mir said, “It was the charismatic leadership of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, which helped Karra to win elections particularly the one he fought for Srinagar Budgam parliamentary constituency in 2014 parliamentary elections.”

Saying that PDP will complete its full-term under the leadership of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, Mir said, “Neither any legislator has backed Karra nor will any legislator or party leader back him in future. PDP is united and will remain united as the party commands the confidence of the people in all the three regions of the state.” (KNS)
