Kangan School Collapses In Earthquake

After the low-intensity, epicentered in Pakistan jolted the Valley in the wee hours ofTuesday morning; a government-run school was collapsed in Kangan area of district Ganderbal.
The fifty years old, government-run primary school, single-story building got collapsed after the earthquake jolted Valley here.
Eye-witnesses told KNS that soon after the quake shook the Valley this morning, the primary school building got collapsed. “The building was already damaged but the state administration didn’t paid heed over it thereby resulted in its collapse in the wee hours,” the locals said.
According to US Geological Survey, the earthquake measured 4.3 on the Richter scale jolted Valley in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The locals said that the building had developed cracks due to the past several earthquakes but unfortunately the government failed to look into it. “We approached to the concerned authorities for its renovation but our plea felt into deaf ears,” they lamented and demanded its immediate reconstruction and up-gradation from primary to middle school.
“The damaged primary school building collapsed at around 5:30 am,” locals told KNS. 
They further informed that a team of authorities headed by Tehsildar Kangan visited the spot to inspect the damage of the government-run school building. (KNS)
