Hurriyat was Consulted before Forming Govt with BJP: PDP

Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti Saturday stirred a hornet’s nest in Kashmir politics by claiming that a “Hurriyat party” was also called by the PDP to get consent for the formation of government with BJP in the state.

"It took us two months to decide the Agenda of Alliance. Hurriyat party was also called and getting consent on most of the issues the government is working,” the PDP chief said while speaking at Agenda Aaj Tak in New Delhi.

Mehbooba was replying to a question about her party’s alliance with BJP.

“With Vajpayee the experience was good, but forming an alliance with the present BJP was not easy for them.”

When the PDP and BJP were stitching the alliance, as per reports Hurriyat (M) senior leader and chairman of Muslim Conference Prof Abdul Gani Bhat had met PDP patron and Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed at his residence. The meeting had created stir in political circles here.

Mehbooba said that she does not want to become the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir in near future. "I am not looking forward to be CM of Jammu and Kashmir,” Mehbooba said.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat leaders rejected the remarks of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti.

Hurriyat Conference leaders Saturday rejected the assertion made by Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti that a “Hurriyat party” was also called by the PDP to get consent for the formation of government with BJP in the state.

"It took us two months to decide the Agenda of Alliance. Hurriyat party was also called and getting consent on most of the issues the government is working,” the PDP chief said while speaking at ‘Agenda Aaj Tak’ program in New Delhi.(Agencies)
