“Coordination necessary to counter state terrorism”

Srinagar: Hurriyat (M) Conference Sunday welcomed the pro-freedom leadership’s initiative of holding consultations among various pro-freedom groups for making their joint programme on the visit of Prime Minister of India to Srinagar on November 7 a success.

In a statement to KNS, a spokesman of Hurriyat (M) said that better coordination among pro freedom groups through prior consultations and organizing joint resistance programs is the urgent need of the hour as the situation in the valley is deteriorating by the day and state-sponsored terrorism and use of excessive force on Kashmiri people and their leadership is touching new heights.

He said that successive governments in India and their stooges who run the show in Jammu Kashmir for them, have as a policy always mislead the people of India and the world into believing that the Kashmir struggle is in some way an issue of economic and developmental deprivation which needs to be addressed in that context and not a struggle for the political right of self-determination.  “The idea behind this deception is that the focus always stays away from the actual problem which is of addressing the political and human dimension of the problem, and they can keep evading it, with the hope that one day their simultaneous policy of state repression and subjugation will pay dividends and the   people of the state will be forced to give up their just struggle.

Amalgam said the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi is another attempt at this same old tactic and his likely announcements should be seen through this prism of deception.

Statement said that time and again the message from J&K has been loud and clear that The Kashmir issue is not an economic issue that can be dealt with aid and economic packages, job bonanzas and development network, but a political and human issue, which can neither be crushed by military might, oppression or suppression.

The conglomerate said that the issue of Kashmir has to be resolved in the light of its historical and human context recognizing and respecting the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir and honoring them.

Hurriyat (M) statement said that it fully endorses and supports Syed Ali Geelani’s proposed ‘Million Men March’ programme that runs parallel to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi’s November 7 programme in Srinagar, and also extends its all out support to Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik’s call for a complete shutdown and civil curfew in case the government resorts to its customary practice of placing bans and  curbs on people from participating in the proposed programme.

The conglomerate appealed people to make the programme given by the resistance leadership a success and send a strong message to the people of India and the world community that Kashmiris have not been offering sacrifices of their lives, the lives of their dear ones, their honour and their material wealth during the past seven decades for petty economic package but for the lofty and noble cause of securing their fundamental right of self-determination promised to them at the United Nations.

Statement said that let it be clear to all that the brave and steadfast people of the state will continue to carry on their just struggle inspite of facing all kinds of oppression and hardships until their noble mission is not accomplished. (KNS)
