u8_Mirwaiz-Umer-FarooqSrinagar: Hurriyat (M) Friday condemned the oppressive and dictatorial tactics of the authorities by imposing curfew in major parts of Srinagar City and placing severe restrictions on the movement of people for aborting the “Solidarity Day” programme of the conglomerate.

The amalgam was organizing the “Solidarity Day” programme to remember the sacrifices of the November 6, 1947 Martyrs of Jammu and for expressing solidarity with the Muslims of Jammu, Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal region.

The programme was scheduled to be addressed by the Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other resistance leaders but authorities scuttled it by using force and military might and by stopping people from even offering the Friday congregation prayers at the Jamia Masjid, Srinagar and other main Masjids, Khankhas and shrines in Shehre Khas.

Hurriyat (M) Chairman, who is also the top religious preacher of Kashmir, continues to be under house arrest at his Nigeen residence for the third consecutive day on Friday and was barred from offering the obligatory Friday congregational prayers and stopped from fulfilling his religious and professional duties.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has strongly condemned this blatant aggression on the part of the authorities  and said it is highly unfortunate that the rulers for staying in power, for their selfish interests and to please their masters in Delhi take hostage the entire population, impose bans on Friday prayers  and try to choke the space for any political activities of the resistance camp by resorting to arrests, detentions ,using excessive force and military might and by placing restrictions on the movement of people.

He appealed to the international community, various rights bodies, people and nations that believe in justice and fair play, and international bodies meant for protecting human rights to take note of these violations against the people of Kashmir.

Hurriyat (M) Chairman said people of Kashmir had for the past seven decades been fighting for the just cause of their right to self-determination and Government of India and its stooges governing Jammu Kashmir had been using all means at their disposal to cow down Kashmiris and force them into submission but have miserably failed in that pursuit and would continue to fail in future as well as the will and determination of a Nation cannot be broken by brute force.

Mirwaiz also appealed to the people to make the November 7 programme of “Million March” a success and strongly condemned the arrests and house arrests of the resistance leaders, Hurriyat activists and youth. (KNS)
