The party feels that grand old party would strengthen under the leadership of a hard working leader. “All India Mahila Congress president Shobha Oza expressed her delight over the news and said that the entire party was waiting for this moment, ” according to an media report. “The entire Congress has been waiting for this and we are very happy that Rahul Gandhi is going to become the party president,” Oza told media. She further stated that Rahul Gandhi has been working hard for revival of the Congress from the streets to Parliament. “It is high time that the youngsters should be given the opportunities. It is for Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who has served for 20 years, to take a call on her successor. We hope that Rahul would do a good job as the party president,” former Punjab chief minister and senior Congress leader Amarinder Singh added. The grand old party is also likely to make major changes in senior positions following a series of defeats in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls and the recent elections in various states of the country, said an media report.(Agencies)
