Normal life was hit in Handwara town of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district following a general strike against the massacre of 21 civilians allegedly by the Border Security Forces (BSF) personnel on this day in 1990.

Congregational Fateh Khwani was held at Shaheed Mazaar, Handwara with people vowing to remember the sacrifices of the martyrs.

At least 21 persons were killed and 40 others injured when BSF personnel allegedly resorted to indiscriminate firing near State Bank of India, Handwara on January 25, 1990.
