Inhabitants of Gow Kadal Saturday staged protest against National Food Security Act (NFSA) and were demanding rollback of the law.
The inhabitants blocked the main road of the area leading to the commercial hub Lal Chowk and were chanting slogans against administration.
While talking to media, inhabitants said that enhancement in the ration quota from 5 kg to 7 kg’s won’t help the rice eaters. “Government should provide the ration quota as per previous order (35kg’s),” Zubair Ahmad, a local told media.
He said that until and unless the government won’t rollback the recently implemented NFSA in the state, they won’t stop protesting over it. “We are being forced to take to streets as the administration leaves us to face tremendous hardships with implemented black laws in Kashmir,” he said.
The protests later dispersed peacefully. (Agencies)
