Srinagar: Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwiaz Umar Farooq has condemned excessive use of force and placing restrictions on the movement of the people throughout Kashmir in general and Shahar-e-Khas and Zainakote areas.

In a statement to KNS, Mirwaiz, who has been placed under house arrest for the past nine days at his Nigeen residence and stopped from performing religious, political and social obligations, Wednesday, condemned the so-called government and Indian forces for creating a reign of terror in the region.

Mirwaiz said Authorities in Kashmir have unleashed terror using lethal weapons, tear smoke canisters and pepper gas on the Kashmiri population particularly on the people of Shahre Khas resulting in their ailments.

He said Shahar-e-Khas is been particularly targeted and kept under continuous curfew for the past week while Indian forces were on an arrest spree of the youth and resistance activists and carrying raids on their residences while the womenfolk and children were also being held hostage in their houses and even stopped from visiting doctors or hospitals. He emphasized that all this is being done to suppress the resilient spirit of the Kashmiri people, especially of the people of Shahr-e-Khas. Hurriyat (M) Chairman said that the ruling class in Kashmir was deliberately keeping last year’s flood victims economically deprived by imposing restrictions time and again and not allowing them to bounce back and recover from the last year’s tragedy.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of Hurriyat (M) said the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi’s statement of Jhamooriyat (democracy), Kashmiriyat (Kashmiris ethos) and Insaniyat (humanity) in his November 7 speech in Srinagar was implemented by Indian forces in letter and spirit by killing the 22-year-old youth of Mustafabad Zainakote, Gowhar Nazir Dar when he tried to protest peacefully against the Indian PM’s Kashmir visit and made the feelings of Kashmiris known that they do not believe in economic packages but a permanent and a lasting political solution.

The spokesman said the ruling class was misusing their authority by placing under house arrest the Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and detaining or placing under house arrest Hurriyat leaders and activists, and others resistance leaders.

Condemning the house arrest and arrest spree of the resistance leaders and activists and the continued raids on their residences, Hurriyat (M) spokesman said these sacrifices would not be allowed to go waste and the struggle for right to self-determination would continue till Kashmir issue does not reach its logical conclusion.

On the advice of the Mirwaiz, a delegation of Hurriyat (M) compromising of Ghulam Nabi War, Manzoor Ahmad Wani, Abdul Rehman Bhat, Abdul Rashid Kanihami, and Fayaz Ahmad participated in the Fateh Khawani of Gowhar Nazir Dar after reaching Mustafabad Zainakote despite massive restrictions and curbs placed by the Indian forces. (KNS)
