Amidst the strict curfew in place, the police on Friday detained the separatist leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umer Farooq to foil the Jami Masjid chalo.

Early in the morning Mirwaiz defied the curfew and attempted to take March towards the Jami Masjid. But the police already placed outside his residence detained him.

Similarly, the Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani was also detained outside his Hyderpora residence when he defied the curfew and tried marching towards Jamia Masjid in old city.

The government also reduced the Bandwidth of the only functional Broadband services of BSNL due to which the internet speed is very low, irking the subscribers.   The other telecommunication services including mobile internet have been snapped in valley on July 8 after the death of Burhan Muzaffer Wani-militant commander.

Meanwhile the strict restrictions across valley are in place to foil any protests after the congregational Friday prayers.
