Peoples Democratic Party President and Member Parliament Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday expressed shock and grief over the killing of forces personnel and a civilian in a gunfight in Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

“No religion allows such dastardly acts of violence which lead to spilling of innocent blood and bring enormous tragedies to the families of the victims,” she said in a statement.

She said Kashmir is going through a “vicious circle of death and destruction for the past more than three decades and it has only brought miseries to the people.” “The perpetrators of violence must realize that it is not through the gun and grenade that political problems are resolved. Dialogue and reconciliation are the only options for making headway in finding a solution,” she said. “Such acts of violence are aimed at not only disrupting the peace but weakening the State economy and destroying the infrastructure.”

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, she prayed for the everlasting peace of the departed souls. 

She also prayed for early recovery of the injured.(Agencies)
