A delegation of Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) led by its president Dr Nisar ul Hassan today called on Parvez Dewan in Srinagar and demanded immediate reinstatement of DAK president.

The delegation expressed dismay over continued suspension of DAK president which was unjustified and illegal. Dr Nisar was suspended in May 2014 for raising voice against fake drug perpetrators in which some higher ups were involved who hatched a conspiracy and fabricated a false and frivolous case against him.2015-04-17_21.58.55

“His suspension has given untold sufferings to his family and patients who were under his treatment and follow up,” DAK spokesperson said “During the meeting, the delegation expressed grave concern over the unabated influx of spurious drugs in the valley. The drug market was unchecked and unregulated and no serious efforts were being made to curb the menace.”

DAK stressed on speedy implementation of drug policy to ensure availability of free and quality drugs to poor patients in government hospitals.

The delegation informed advisor that transfer policy was being violated and influential doctors enjoy prize postings and remain posted at places of their choice for decades. While terming private practice by government doctors particularly in teaching hospitals as the root cause of health care mess, the delegation demanded immediate ban to it. DAK reiterated that the post of principal GMC should be advertised which would bring transparency in the selection process and would open doors for many meritorious and deserving candidates. Other issues which were brought to the notice were caderization of medical officers and three-tier promotion system for faculty which would end stagnation and improve patient care. Advisor gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation that the issues would be redressed.(Agencies)
