Cop Dies, Dozen Youth Injured In Ongoing Clashes

burhanA policeman was killed and nearly a dozen youth have been injured in ongoing clashes across the valley on Sunday.

Reports said that the cop was killed after protesters pushed the police vehicle into the Jehlum River near Sangam in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.

However, nearly 12 more youth have sustained injuries many of them bullets during the clashes with the government forces.

The youths have been injured after forces fired at protesters in Hillad and Peer Takiya villages of Kokernag area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday.

Some of the injured have been identified as Mudassir R/O Hillar, Basharat Parray R/O Peertaki, Mudasir Parray R/O Peertaki, Abdul Majid R/O Bamdoora and Nadeem Sheikh R/O Peertaki.

All of them have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Mudassir due to severe injuries was referred to Srinagar for advanced treatment.

Reports reaching here suggested that people have defied the curfew in various parts of valley and protested the killing of top Hizb Commander Burhan Muzaffer Wani.
