CD Delivers Lecture Series on Anti Drugs, Disaster preparedness at Himayat Centres

civil defenseIn an initiative to inculcate the preparedness among youth against the natural disasters in seismic prone valley, the Civil Defence is delivering a series of lectures at Himayat centres across valley.

So far the chief warden, Civil Defence north Kashmir Dr Mir Inayat delivered two lectures at Kangan Don Bosco centre and Baramulla on Tuesday.

The youth who are imparted with basic skill training at these centres were informed and educated about the preparedness against any natural and manmade disasters by Chief Warden. They were also offered the basic education against the use of drugs that presently is posing a severe challenge to the society.

During these two lectures more than 200 youth including boys and girls were imparted with the basic training. The lecture on perception management was also presented by Mir Inayat.

 “Disasters cannot be done away with, but destruction from them can be lessened through appropriate measures. Some important preparedness measures include Disaster Mapping, Disaster preparedness plan, Land- use zoning, preparing community through IEC and predictability, forecast and warning,” he said.

 He regretted over the soaring use of addictive drugs by the youth and warned them about the disastrous social ramifications in future.

 The SDRF trainer Mudasir demonstrated CPR , use of fire extinguisher and utility of ropes during disasters.

 The series of lectures at these centres is aimed to reshaping the youth and capacity building among them.

“We want to inculcate community service volunteerism, leadership, team work, responsible citizenship, self motivation, decision making, conflict resolution, accepting differences and nurturing responsibilities among these youth,” Mir added.
