Border areas on tourism map after Delhi’s nod: CM

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government Tuesday said that it is mulling to promote border tourism in the state.

 

In response to a question during ongoing Assembly session the government said that it has identified Teetwal, Keran, Nowshera, Suchentgarh, Rawalkot, Uri and Karnah as border tourism spots.

 

The state government has already submitted Rs 100 crore proposal to the Indian government and is waiting for its approval.

 

Responding to the issue of promotion of border tourism in the state, the Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad Syeed, who also holds the charge of Tourism department, assured the Lower House that government is working on a plan to showcase Chhamb, Suchetgarh, Janjar (Nowshera), Chakan da Bagh (Poonch), Uri-Salamabad (Baramulla) and Kargil as new destinations points for tourists on the pattern of Wagah on Punjab border, which attracts fairly large number of visitors.
