Inhabitants of Boat colony, Bemina Saturday staged protest march against the recently implemented NFSA in the state. The protesters blocked Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway and were demanding its rollback.
The protesters according to the eye-witnesses blocked National Highway for half an hour thereby disrupted the vehicular movement in the area.
Witnesses said that the protesters were chanting slogans like ‘we want justice’.
The protesters appealed government to take necessary steps in this regard to redress the genuine grievances of people. “We are rice eaters and just 2 kgs of enhancement in ration won’t help us. Government should look into the matter immediately so that the people will be benefited,” they said.
Duty Officer of Bemina, Majid Ahamd told media that the people marched from Boat colony to National Highway and blocked it for half an hour. “The protesters after staging protest dispersed peacefully,” he said. (Agencies)
