BJP strongly condemns the heinous and barbaric act committed by the terrorists last night in Shopian, wherein a young Indian Army officer attending a wedding in his village during leave was kidnapped by the terrorists and brutally murdered. In a press statement issued by the Party, Brig Anil Gupta, State Spokesperson, paying homage to the young officer said that this barbaric act is the manifestation of Jihadi terror and imposition of Wahhabi Salafi ideology on the Kashmiris by Pak sponsored Jihadi terrorists. Killing of a fellow Kashmiri Sunni Muslim is against all tenets of Islam. It is also a challenge to the Indian nation. One should remember that Salafis give just two options to those opposed to their ideology-Convert or Die or in other words “follow our diktats else be prepared to die,” said Brig Gupta. The world has already witnessed the barbarism of the ISIS cadre in Syria, Iraq and in Kurdish territories. Are the Kashmiris willing to live in such a medieval, barbaric society or they want to live in a civilised society, questioned the Spokesperson? Kashmiris must stop feeding these venomous snakes in their backyards in the hope that they won’t bite them, warned Brig Gupta.
The yesterday’s incident is a big challenge to the vast majority of peace loving Kashmiris who are only interested in a decent livelihood and peaceful life. Brig Gupta quoted Lt Gen Hooda, former Northern Army Commander, who in an appeal to Kashmiri youth had said, “Any association with terrorism will peg you back. You surely don’t want the idea of Kashmiriyat vanishing. The values you see in your homes and among your elders have been shaped by this very idea. If you respect these values, protect them.” The words of Gen Hooda are very apt. Has this been done to deter the Kashmiri youth who had turned up in large numbers for the recruitment rallies organised by Indian Army ? Will the Kashmiri youth succumb so easily to these barbarians? The answer is clearly “NO”, said Brig Gupta.
Kashmiris need to rise and stop the influx of jihadi poison in Kashmir’s veins. Instead of succumbing to the diktats of jihadi terrorists, they need to fight them. The Kashmiris have to decide whether they want to promote Osama Bin Laden or Baghdadi as a role model or their very own Maqbool Sherwani, appealed Brig Gupta. The time has come for the majority peace loving Kashmiris to unite and rise against the menace of jihadi terrorism. It is now or never, rued Brig Gupta.
