Azad greets people on Navratra, New Hijri Year

Jammu: Senior Congress leader and former chief minister of the state Ghulam Nabi Azad has greeted Muslims and Hindus on the occssion of the New Hijri Year and the anniversary of the Prophet Mohammed's (PBUH) Hijri and Navaratra.

A spokesman of Congress said that Azad and other senior Congress leaders, Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Haji Ab Rashid Dar, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, Jahangir Hussain Mir, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Dr Shahzad Aasim and others have exchanged greetings with Muslims.

Congress leaders have also greeted Hindus on the eve of Navratra.

Congress leaders highlighted the State's rich tradition of celebrating the holy occasions and observed that the Navratras have a special significance for the devotees, who visit the Holy Caves in large numbers during this auspicious period, the spoeksman said.

The Congress leaders hoped that this auspicious occasion would be the harbinger of harmony, brotherhood, amity, sustained peace, progress and prosperity in the State, he added. (KNS)
