As Govt Bans JKLF Khan’s Funeral, Sajad Lone Holds One

Funeral-AmanullahAs government disallowed a proposed funeral-in-absentia at Lal Chowk for JKLF co-founder, Amanullah Khan, his son-in-law Sajad Gani Lone Wednesday held funeral prayers for the deceased at Sanat Nagar’s mini-convention center.

Khan, 85, passed away in a Rawalpindi hospital on Tuesday after a protracted illness. Funeral paryers for him were held in many Pakistani cities while JKLF had planned same in Lal Chowk today.

Sajad Lone, who represents Handwara constituency in the state legislature, is part of PDP-BJP J&K Government. He didn’t fly to participate in funeral prayers in Pakistan instead sent his elder brother and Hurriyat Conference (m) executive member, Bilal Gani.

In a tweet, Lone had described Amanullah Khan as a “textbook Kashmiri nationalist”. “Amanullah Khan sahib-end of an era. Text book Kashmiri nationalist. Struggled for it all his life. Stands out as transparently honest leader.”(Agencies)
