Army Men Open Fire In Ashmuqam, Two Persons Injured

Two persons were injured one of them seriously when army opened firing on protesters at Ashmuqam in south Kashmir on Tuesday.

The protest was held after army cordoned off a local area and started search operation.

Local sources informed media that there was some issue regarding local Auqaf and people had assembled to resolve that issue during which army men who had cordoned a certain area came and opened fire on the gathering.

Locals alleged that army personnel opened firing without any provocation resulting in the injuries to Javaid Ahmad Wani, 22, who has been hit by a bullet in neck and Amir Ahmad Sheikh, 20, who has been hit in his arm.

Javaid according to locals has been shifted to Srinagar for treatment while as Amir was being treated at district hospital Islamabad.

Soon after the incident the shopkeepers pulled down their shutters and staged protests.(Agencies)
