Army JCO Killed In ‘Accidental’ Fire

A Junior Commissioned officer (JCO) was killed in an “accidental fire” at Langate area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday.

Indian-Army-RehearsalReports said that Jai Prakash Singh of 30 Rashtriya Rifles posted at Langate army camp, received a serious bullet wound in his head while performing his duties.

“After hearing gunshot sound, his colleague rushed towards him where he was found lying in a pool of blood and took him to nearby medical room for treatment”, they said.

The 55-year-old was later airlifted to army’s 92 base hospital here for specialized treatment.

The officer, a resident of Shivpur village in Shambahaganj area of Gorakhpur district of UP later succumbed to injuries.

A spokesperson in Defence Ministry said that the officer died due to accidental fire.(Agencies)
