Srinagar: A day after militants shot dead tech savvy officer Altaf Ahmad of Jammu and Kashmir police, massive combing operation jointly by the police and army has been launched in villages of Bandipora of North Kashmir to flush out the militants responsible for attack.

The police sources told The Legitimate, the combing operation has been launched on the concrete inputs about the presence of militants who carried the daring attack on police officer at Gundchina village and resulting his on spot death.

Nearly a dozen villages are under siege where we suspect three to four militants are present involved in Wednesday’s audacious attack on police cop. The combing operation would continue till militants responsible for attack are flush out,” the police officer said, on conditions of anonymity.  The villages which are under siege include Brar, Chita Banday, Watlab, Aloosa, Nowpora, Papchan and Garura.

Locals said that the passenger and private vehicles moving in these areas are also thoroughly checked by the government forces.

Altaf Ahmad alias Laptop was known as the key person in tracking militants through the use of digital technology.

Altaf who had already received two out of turn promotions after joining as constable in the department was supposed to be promoted as inspector soon for his outstanding job in neutralizing militancy through latest technology.

The police have termed his death as big lost to the department

Altaf was shot dead while chasing few militants in a private car through his laptop near Gundachina village which apparently was seen as a trap led by militants to eliminate the most intelligent police officer.
