The state forest department on Saturday seized five scants of Deodar in the Kehmil Forest Division of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the reports, “A team headed by DFO of Kehmil forest division seized 236fts of Deodar in the north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The scants were seized from the residential place of Aslam Khan, son of Muhammad Sidiq Khan.”
He said that the accused had earlier sought permission to fell two scants from his own land but after officials granted him permission he felled five scants thereby was seized by the authorities.
He said that an FIR vide no 13/2016 under section 379/6/ forest act has been registered against the Aslam Khan, son of Muhammad Sidiq Khn, and Sabdar Khan, son of Muhammad Aslam Khan.
DFO Kehmil, Reyaz Gul told media that he constituted a team and sent them to the residential place of Aslam Khan where from they seized the five scants of Deodar. “We have registered case in this regard at police station Welgam,” he said.
SP Handwara, Ghulam Jeelani Wani told media that the case has been registered against the accused. “The accused have not been arrested so far. We have also launched man hunt to arrest the culprits,” he said. (Agencies)
