Srinagar: Pulwama Police today claimed to have arrested five workers of Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit who looted Rs 14 lakh from Malapora ( Charar-e-Sharif ) branch of Jammu and Kashmir bank on Monday.
“Based upon specific leads about the incident and the trail left by assailants, Pulwama police meticulously dealt with the clues using tech as well as human sources during this process the team zeroed in on one Mohammad Iqbal Wani R/o Chewakalan.
His arrest and disclosures further led to the arrest of Farooq Ahmad Bhat and Tanveer Alam Wani both residents of the same village,” said SSP Pulwama Rayees Ahmad Bhat, during a press conference.
Bhat said that the trio ran a “highly committed and confidential” over ground worker network of Lashkar outfit.
“They revealed that conspiracy of robbing the Malpora branch was hatched and masterminded by one Arif Dar Abu Haibatullah R/o Lelhar Kakapora, who is an active local militant of LeT outfit along with two other militants of foreign origin identified by their codes Abu Ali and Abu Ismail,” he said adding that the foreign militants provided all the support for facilitating the heist, including transportation, logistics and conducting of recee.
“The group also used the service of Tanveer Bhat and Raqeeb Rather both residents of Chewakalan Pulwama – for driving the assailants on 21 Nov 2016,” said Bhat. (PTK)
