5 Incidents Of Stone Pelting in Kashmir: Police

Police on Monday said that situation remained under control in most parts of Kashmir .In a statement Police spokesman said: Five incidents of stone pelting were reported from Shopian in south Kashmir, Sopore and Bandipora in north Kashmir.

Restrictions under section 144/CrPC remained in force in Kashmir while as curfew was imposed in some parts of Srinagar and in the towns of Anantnag and Sopore.”

“In Shopian district youth pelted stones on Police Post Keegam, at Memender they assembled on road and pelted stones on security force deployments. At Balpora, Shopian youth pelted stones upon an army camp,” he said.

“At Aragam, Bandipora youth pelted stones at Police Station Aragam. At Pothkhah, Sopore about 250 youth assembled on the road and  pelted stones on Police post Potkhah. At Trehgam, Kupwara youth pelted stones on Police and security force deployment. Despite provocation at these places the forces exercised restraint to contain the situation,” the spokesman said.
